Smart, TNT continue to assist more subscribers with SIM Registration

With about three weeks until the SIM registration deadline on July 25, PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and value brand TNT continue to encourage customers to register their Smart and TNT SIMs, to avoid SIM deactivation.

In the Davao Region, Smart partnered with Sta. Ana and Agdao Multipurpose Cooperatives in making SIM Registration more accessible to their members. Edna Villones, a Davao City resident, shared her registration experience. "Registering my SIM was very smooth and fast. I’m glad that my SIM is now registered because I keep all my important contacts here, and I use it regularly to reach my loved ones,” she said.

Smart and TNT also partnered with Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) during their Camp Fiesta to cater to officers from different parts of the region. Angeli Villaver, a patrol woman from PRO11 shared, “It’s a must to register our SIMs for easier tracing and to help curb rampant scams. Thank you so much for this initiative, it made the registration process seamless for me.”

Smart and TNT have been actively collaborating with national agencies and local government units to deploy thousands of SIM Registration booths across the country, particularly in remote, far-flung municipalities, assisting millions of customers in registering their SIMs to comply with the law. “Our commitment is to have no one left behind when it comes to SIM registration,” said Cathy Yang, FVP and Head of Group Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.

Smart also recently partnered with The Generics Pharmacy in Davao to provide SIM registration assistance to patients availing of medical services during their Kaibigan sa Kalusugan Medical Caravan.

Smart and TNT will continue to deploy more teams in Mindanao to provide customers with a convenient and seamless SIM registration experience, especially for the elderly, persons with disabilities, and those using legacy phones.

New and existing Smart Prepaid and TNT customers may also visit PLDT and Smart stores, or access Smart’s SIM registration portal through https://www.smart.com.ph/simreg. Meanwhile, Smart postpaid customers are considered registered using existing account details, by the SIM registration act.

Republic Act 11934 or the SIM Registration Act regulates the use of SIM cards to help curb the proliferation of text scams and other mobile phone-aided criminal activities. All SIM users now have until July 25, 2023, to register their SIMs under their name, or risk deactivation.
