Smart Communications has set up assisted booths at selected SM Cyberzone branches all over the Philippines to make SIM registration easier and more accessible for Smart and TNT users. The rollout of assisted SIM registration touchpoints began in January at SM Supermalls, and it has now expanded to include SM Cyberzone locations such as SM North Edsa, SM City Tuguegarao, SM City Cebu, and SM City General Santos.
According to Alex O. Caeg, PLDT and Smart SVP and Head of Consumer Sales Group, the company hopes to make SIM registration more convenient for subscribers, especially younger mobile users, through this initiative at SM Cyberzone. Mark Ramilo, Group Marketing Manager for Cyberzone, SM Supermalls, also expressed gratitude for the collaboration with Smart, which will help them better serve their customers.
All SIM users are mandated by Republic Act No. 11934 or the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Act to register their SIMs by April 26, 2023. To assist subscribers with this process, Smart has deployed booths offering assistance throughout the country in collaboration with government and private partners, as well as other public telecommunications entities (PTEs).
This initiative aims to help subscribers who may need assistance in registering their SIMs, especially senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and those using non-data phones. Both new and existing Smart Prepaid and TNT subscribers can visit PLDT and Smart stores or access Smart’s SIM registration portal through https://simreg.smart.com.ph/. Postpaid users can simply text YES to 5858, while Enterprise customers can confirm their registration through their authorized representatives.
