Manila, Philippines -- If you are looking for a portable powerhouse when it comes to a laptop, the Fujitsu UH-X is something that you might want to consider. After a few days of using it, here is our review of this small but terrible kind of equipment.
Back in the days when laptops were a niche product because paying for portability was expensive, there were very few brands that made an impressive impact, and Fujitsu was no stranger to that. Popularly known for their insanely expensive laptops like the Lifebook series then, the Japanese company isn’t done with making laptops just yet. Fujitsu sent us their UH-X Laptop which is their take on a modern laptop, and we played with it for a good amount of time, but in the sea of laptops available today, does the UH-X stand a chance? For me, it does.
No problem about weight
For a laptop this thin, we have only one word to say about the I/O: Solid. It is more solid than any thin and light laptop we have seen and has everything ticked in the box, making it our favorite set of I/Os we have seen in a laptop and raising our bar of expectation with Thin and Light.
Performance and Features
The laptop uses a 13.3” Full HD LED Backlight display and has an anti-glare coating on top of it. The specification you see above would make you realize that this laptop isn’t for those who want to do pro creation and so on but more focused on consumers who want a laptop that does productivity-centric tasks – and for that, you have a good display that doesn’t disappoint in any way. Just that the brightness could be better as it does have a little dim-ish look to it under bright light.
The processor under the hood of this stunning laptop is something created front and center for creativity and productivity.
Processor: Intel - i7 - 1255U
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 512GB SSD
The keyboard is a sight for sore eyes: because it has properly sized keys all over – with the enter, right shift, and including the arrow key which is our personal favorite. Typing on it feels good and it's just like any other chiclet-style keyboard but what I do like is the choice of legends printed on the keycap – a font that isn’t too edgy but simple and nice to look at. It has a backlight as well, so typing in the dark, no problems at all.
For security, the laptop doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor, but you do get IR Facial recognition which scans your face and unlocks right away.
Final Note
The Fujitsu UH-X is definitely a laptop that took a surprising approach to the thin and light with retaining a good keyboard layout and all of the ports you can ask for without reaching out for a dongle, let alone purchasing one. It’s a nice laptop to look at and definitely a good laptop to use.
