Globe customers can now make domestic mobile calls and send SMS to DITO Telecommunity subscribers and vice versa following the successful interconnection of services of the two telcos.
“This effort is a reflection of Globe’s commitment to fair and healthy competition in the telco industry, as well as its adherence to the rules and regulations prevailing in competition and telecom laws,” said Atty. Froilan Castelo, Globe General Counsel.
Globe is also working to finalize the interconnection of fixed landline service with DITO.
Interconnection among telco providers is in line with provisions for compulsory interconnection of authorized public telecommunications carriers under Republic Act 7925. The law aims to create a universally accessible and fully integrated nationwide telecommunications network to encourage more infrastructure investments from the private sector that would benefit the consumers.
Globe continues to aggressively build new sites to increase coverage, and upgrade existing sites to 4G LTE and 5G to provide a better data experience to customers. Globe is also migrating its qualified home broadband customers using copper lines to fiber for FREE so that customers can enjoy improved speed and better quality of connectivity.
Globe supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically UN SDG No. 9 which emphasizes the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs.
